Situated on over 96 hectares of land in the foothills of Phaya Prab Mountain in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Jim Thompson Farm officially opened its doors in 2001 with a mission to preserve and pass on the cultural heritage of Isan. It offers visitors the opportunity to engage in hands-on agricultural experiences, learn about mulberry and silk farming, explore traditional Isan architecture, wander through rice paddies and vibrant flower fields, and shop for organic produce from local farmers.
In 2009, the farm launched the “Art on Farm” project in collaboration with the Jim Thompson Art Center, inviting artists to create works that blend art, agriculture, and traditional Isan architecture, offering a unique and enriching experience for all.
This year, Jim Thompson Farm takes a step further with the theme ‘ISAN CALLING’, offering something even more special than before. We are proud to bring together 17 leading artists, many of whom have exhibited at world-class international art events such as the Thailand Biennale, Chiang Rai (2023), the Venice Biennale (2023), and the Asia Pacific Triennial, Brisbane (2024). These renowned artists, along with guest artists from the Art on Farm project, come from across the country, from the North, Isan, and Central regions, as well as from abroad. They are set to create legendary works of art that deeply connect various cultures with the unique space of the farm. The emphasis is on using local materials, craftsmanship, sustainability, and eco-consciousness. Artists include Pinaree Sanpitak, Mit Jai Inn, all(zone), Angkrit Ajchariyasophon, Sittikorn Khawsa-ad, Sanitas Pradittasnee, Chata Maiwang, Somluk Pantiboon, Giles Ryder, Bounpaul Phothyzan, Kelsey Wagner, Nakprat Autthayota, Savini Buranasinlapin, Atthitayaporn Seanpo, Natthida Palasak, Yanusak Seubmaungsai, Navin Rawanchaikul, and works from a collaborative workshop with graduate students from Columbia University, New York. This year is a perfect fusion of art, culture, and Isan heritage, connected to the wider world.
These artworks and activities are designed to inspire and offer fresh perspectives to visitors, while also sparking imagination and creativity. The aim is to transform this space into a significant cultural and artistic park for the Isan region, seamlessly blending the preservation of local traditions with the presentation of contemporary art in an international context.
We sincerely hope that art and culture enthusiasts will enjoy and be delighted by the authentic Isan atmosphere at Jim Thompson Farm, filled with stunning artworks and immersive experiences. There will be activities that dive deep into Isan’s essence, such as the ‘Lam Lok’ Molam exhibition, the ‘American Isan’ exhibition accompanied by country music, and the Rice exhibition, which will feature daily workshops like rice tasting, roasted rice tea tasting, and rice cooking classes. We also have traditional Isan and Korat architecture on display, along with workshops like indigo dyeing, ceramic crafting, and making traditional Isan desserts. Visitors can savor local festive dishes and farm-to-table food, stroll through flower fields, enjoy live local music, and experience vibrant concerts. Bring your friends and loved ones!
